Restructuring the Current Export Control Is Necessary
On August 31, 2010, United States President Barack Obama stated that he plans to restructure the export control guidelines and the overall export system. Actually, export is most interesting vicinity paying a vital role in the overall economical development of the country. Due to export solicited trade not only the political and economical ties with different countries are strengthened but it also plays an important role in bringing in foreign currencies taking advantage of the currency rate differences. However, the recent export control rules put forth to keep aerospace products and other technologies like encrypted software’s in restricted list t only prevent the misuse of such products and prevent them from the reach of wrong hands.
Many exporters in USA think that these changes made it difficult for them to trade in a free environment wherein they face problems in exporting certain military equipments needed by their own military outside the boundaries of the US government. However, there many more products in this broad and confusing list having been claimed unnecessarily as restricted export items now considered safe for export. The current statement of Barack Obama shows a ray of hope as the restructuring policy surely will endorse export control in right manner by removing many prohibited items off the list and will try to restore the list to match the current export scenario of the world market.
Many exporters are repeatedly complaining about the list of prohibited list being so long and vogue that sometimes they have to rethink if the product they are exporting is really a valid product or a restricted product. According to the recent reconstructing structure only about 25 percent of items in the list of prohibited product are expected to remain and will require licensing for exporting them. Due to the military, use often the items on the list that are similar or identical to the unrestricted items are blacklisted, as they resemble the security prototype of items.
Some products like motor parts for tanks are restricted when they share virtual identical designs as that of truck motors; therefore, export control to manage such issues and manage the export-restricted list will serve the actual purpose of economical development from this source. Obama has recently promised exporters to double the exports from USA within five years and for that, he has made up his mind to sign the establishment center that will be responsible for the enforcing and coordinating the defense products foreign trade industry.
Therefore, it is evidently clear that in recent years, the export control will be loosened a bit and many products that were on the list of restricted items will find their way on shipping docks to generate some economical change in already troubled economical situation.
