Getting a divorce in the U.K.

The divorce process in the US is quite similar to the UK. Just as in the US, you must prove to the court that your marriage has failed in order to get granted a divorce. In the UK there are few legal reasons such as cheating on their spouse , unfit behavior, two years of abandonment or two or five years of parting. Whoever initiates the divorce, will provide a written statement as to why the marriage has broken down and should contain some of the previous reasons. As in the US, any good uk divorce solicitor can get the divorce granted based on cheating (adultery) or unfit behavior. The UK courts also have other alternatives to divorce such as mediation and collaborative family law.
